Donald Trump’s bond in the E. Jean Carroll verdict might not help him after all

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump managed to post bond in the E. Jean Carroll verdict on Friday. Even as we wait to find out the circumstances surrounding the last minute bond, and what Trump had to put up as collateral, it turns out it may not be enough to help Trump after all.

Trump seems to be under the impression that because he posted bond in the case, he’s now allowed to resume lying about E. Jean Carroll. In fact he spent a good stretch of his speech on Saturday night lying about Carroll. But in reality, Carroll can go after Trump again in court for any new remarks that Trump makes – and she recently suggested that she’ll do precisely that if it comes to it.

If E. Jean Carroll is able to convince the judge in this case to increase the size of the verdict, then the bond would need to be larger as well. So the bond that Trump just posted may not be large enough to satisfy the bond conditions. Trump just keeps digging himself deeper holes.
