Donald Trump’s babysitters say he’s canceling appearances because he’s “exhausted” – but it’s even worse than that

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

With two and a half weeks left in a presidential election that’ll either send him to the White House or send him to prison, Donald Trump is now blowing off the majority of his public appearances. This isn’t surprising given that he’s been coming off as more and more senile during the recent events that he has shown up for.

Of course when something this problematic starts happening with a candidate, the campaign has to try to explain it away. To that end, the Trump campaign is now telling the media that Trump is “exhausted.” So that explains it. Except it doesn’t.

Sure, one would expect any presidential candidate to be fending off exhaustion down the stretch – particularly one who’s 78 years old and has long been in visibly poor physical health. But there’s more to it than that. If a candidate gets too exhausted, they cancel some events and use that time to rest up so that they can be at their best during the events they do show up for.

But with Trump that hasn’t been the case at all. When he does surface in public, he exhibits severe and worsening dementia symptoms. He stopped taking questions at a town hall and stood there listening to music. He couldn’t understand the obvious answers that the Univision town hall audience wanted from him. And last night he couldn’t even read jokes off a page without sounding fully senile.

Donald Trump is a lot more than exhausted. He’s finished. He’s too deep into dementia to function under ideal circumstances, and the rigor of campaigning has finished him off entirely. Trump is finished as a functioning adult. And now his babysitters are left making excuses for why he’s given up trying.
