Donald Trump would have to be insane to testify after this

When Donald Trump announced last week that he would testify in his criminal trial, no one really believed he meant it. But under the law, Trump’s announcement meant that the judge would have to decide which of Trump’s prior bad acts can be used to discredit him on cross examination.

To that end, the judge just announced that prosecutors can throw the results of the New York civil fraud trial, the E. Jean Carroll defamation trial, and other greatest hits from Trump’s court losses in his face if he takes the stand.

So Trump would have to be insane (or fully senile) to want to take the stand after this ruling. He’d be opening the door for the jurors, who were largely picked because they haven’t paid close attention to Trump’s prior history, to be informed in detail about his long strong of criminal acts and verdicts against him.
