Donald Trump “will NOT be the Republican candidate in 2024”
For awhile now I’ve said that Donald Trump will either be in prison or firmly on his way to prison by the time the Republican Party is picking its 2024 presidential nominee, and that if they want to forfeit the election by picking Trump, that’s up to them.
Keep in mind that Ron DeSantis was tied with Trump in 2024 Republican primary polling before DeSantis collapsed of his own accord. If DeSantis hadn’t turned out to be such a wet fish, he’d be the 2024 Republican frontrunner by now. So the notion that Republican primary voters are married to Trump is pretty much laughable. The only reason a senile criminal defendant like Trump is still polling in first place in the Republican primary is that the other Republican candidates are that much of a joke.
But it doesn’t mean that Trump is going to hang onto the nomination. All you have to do is watch how badly this guy is unraveling, and how severely that process has been accelerating over the past week. Trump can’t remember who he’s run against, can’t remember who’s on trial, and is calling people “maggot” while talking about them “chocking” in relation to “Petty Mason.” Trump’s mind is gone.
And yet you still hear endless lamenting from the media and pundit class that no matter how senile and unhinged Trump gets, he’s still a lock to be the 2024 Republican nominee “no matter what.” But back in the real world, DeSantis’ rise proved that Republican primary voters are desperate to find someone who’s not Trump. And that was before Trump started getting indicted and becoming even more non-viable. Trump is extremely vulnerable to losing the 2024 Republican nomination to anyone who might be able to gain momentum at the right time.
I’m not the only one who sees it this way. Remember Brian Karem? He was the White House correspondent who kept firing off fearless questions at the Trump regime in the briefing room. He now has this to say:
I will state emphatically once again for all you wonderful believers in Donald Trump:
-He will NOT be the Republican candidate in 2024.His senility
His criminal charges
His physical health
His civil suitsAll of this is combining to destroy his chances.
And he has no one to blame –
but himself.
So there you have it. I’m no longer the only person in the industry who thinks Donald Trump is in an extremely vulnerable position to lose the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
We’ll see how this plays out from here. In spite of the endless hype, we’re still quite a long way away from the start of actual primary voting in Iowa, and we’re even further away from the Republican National Convention where the nomination will ultimately be decided. A lot will happen between now and then. Trump will be convicted in multiple criminal trials between now and then, and be on his way to prison. He’ll have lost all his assets by then. And he’ll have lost whatever few marbles he had left. Trump may be smearing his own feces on the wall by Super Tuesday.
And yet we’ll continue to hear endless daily repetition from the media and pundit class about how Donald Trump will be the 2024 nominee “no matter what.” But keep in mind that DeSantis’ rise has already proved that the Republican primary voting base is indeed eagerly looking to move on from Trump if it can. And, as Karem explained above, Trump isn’t even going to be a functional upright person by the time we get there.
As I’ve been saying for two and a half years now, the real danger for 2024 is that the media convinces everyone that Trump is going to be the nominee no matter what, and as a result some outsider manages to jump into the race late and gain momentum without any real vetting or scrutiny.
We just saw that play out, with Mike Johnson taking a position that everyone thought a bigger name like Jim Jordan or Steve Scalise would end up with. And that’s the real danger in 2024. If senile prisoner Trump is the nominee, we know exactly how to defeat him. But if we presume Trump will be the nominee for sure, then we won’t even notice it when the next Mike Johnson sneaks in the back door.
Vigilance means accepting the strong possibility that Trump won’t be the 2024 nominee, and keeping our eye out for the scenario where outsider candidates end up trying to sneak into the race right around the time Trump is being hauled off to prison.
