Donald Trump is on the wrong end of so many court cases and trials, it would be easy for the left hand not to know what the right hand is doing when it comes to Trump and his legal team. Unfortunately for them, their incompetence is such that the right hand doesn’t even appear to know what the right hand is doing.

Trump just made a new court filing in his classified documents criminal case, arguing that Jack Smith introduced bias and attempted to interfere with the 2024 election when Smith moved to unseal the Mar-a-Lago search warrant. The trouble: it was actually Trump who moved to unseal the warrant.

These kinds of incompetent filings are a good way to automatically lose a ruling. If both sides make competent filings and cogent arguments, the decision ends up coming down to the particulars of the law. But when one side makes an idiotic filing containing fundamental false claims, the ruling ends up being based on that instead. It’s an automatic way to lose.
