Donald Trump tips off that he’s worried about going to prison

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump’s history of charitable actions and doing what is best for others can be summed up with the same words as his administration: illegitimate and fake. While Trump has had a so-called charitable foundation for many years, he was forced to end it due to “self-dealing.” Instead of being remembered for assisting sick children or military veterans, the charity was forced to shutter due to funneling money directly to himself and his family.

Trump’s son Eric’s foundation has also been the source of fraud and lies. During a golf event in 2014, Eric claimed that the money his foundation raised would go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in order to help children battling cancer. Instead, records show much of the money went to Trump family members. Based on this history of the Trump family not caring about people that can’t help them in return, it comes off as strange that Trump would be so interested in prison reform.

The official White House website recently posted a statement in which Trump says, “My Administration is committed to helping former inmates become productive, law-abiding members of society.” Did Trump turn over a new leaf and find a “Grinch moment” when his heart grew three sizes? Of course not. Trump is still thinking only about himself but he sees the writing on the wall and realizes that many in his family, even himself, are headed to prison and they want it to be as pleasant an experience as they can make possible.

Several of the goals stated involve expanding access to prison work programs. This is most likely to ensure Donald Trump can be near a computer at all times so he can continue to send his tweets without interruption. While this is clearly a selfish act on behalf of Trump, hopefully they will follow through so that those that really deserve a second chance can get it. As most people probably had hoped being in prison would prevent Trump from tweeting ever again, I think it will be nice to see what he has to say after a few years without cheeseburgers, Fox News, or a tanning bed.
