Donald Trump thinks he’s already lost this battle

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

I deeply regret that this great country is saddled with some not-so-great members of the extreme court. For years, the Supreme Court WAS supreme. It was a place of honor, and we have had, through the years, some damn GREAT Justices. That makes it harder to see so many political hacks on the bench.

And the extreme court is about to matter in a big way as they will likely have the final word on whether Trump can be on the ballot in Maine, Colorado, and wherever else he might be challenged.

I have said before that the Justices will find a way to keep Trump’s name on the ballot. However — HOWEVER — there is reportedly someone who disagrees with my hypothesis. That person is Donald Trump.

On Friday, New York Times journalist Maggie Haberman told CNN that Trump is privately obsessing over the possibility that the court will NOT rule for him.

Trump is apparently concerned that some members of the court will rule against him in an effort to show people that Trump does not define them and that they are not easily influenced by him. “He is concerned they will look as if they are trying not to rule in his favor and might rule against him.”

How interesting! Perhaps this fear on Donald Trump’s part explains why he has been acting particularly insane lately. And who knows? He might have a point. The fact is many on the extreme court purport to be textualists.

For Justices who adhere to pure textualism. that means they follow explicitly what the Constitution says and how those terms would be understood at the time of ratification. So, if the court were REALLY honest with themselves, they would have to keep Trump off the ballots and let the states decide for themselves.

Of course, the extreme court is not honest. The extreme court has on its bench, a bunch of partisan hacks, some with the morality of someone like Ted Cruz, which is not a good thing.

But the bottom line is we have no idea what the court might do. They have proven themselves unpredictable at least, and no matter WHAT they decide to do and how they decide to do it, I do NOT think this eventual decision will be unanimous. But we’ll see. In the meantime, it seems the court is giving our traitor a whole lot of sleepless nights.
