Donald Trump just said something utterly bizarre about Nancy Pelosi
Last night, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi released a letter laying out how Donald Trump has committed crimes that are even worse than the ones that forced Richard Nixon to resign. This week Pelosi and the House are releasing impeachment testimony transcripts that are likely to drive impeachment poll numbers even higher. So what is Trump doing to fight back against Pelosi?
Back when Nancy Pelosi first announced the impeachment inquiry against Donald Trump, he famously announced that she was no longer the Speaker of the House. It wasn’t clear if he somehow thought he could actually fire her or what, but nevertheless she persisted, and she’s still very much Speaker. Now Trump is trying a different mind trick.
Trump said this to the TV cameras today: “I think Nancy Pelosi has lost her mind and I think, frankly, that she should go back home to San Francisco.” That’s right, he now seems to think that he can simply tell the Speaker of the House to go home, and it’ll somehow magically happen. We’ll have to check, but we’re pretty sure Pelosi didn’t respond to this by quitting and going home.
In any case, as Speaker Pelosi and the House continue to close in on Donald Trump, it’s becoming more clear that Trump has no actual strategy for defending himself. He thinks he’s still on a reality show where he can just yell juvenile insults like “you’re fired” or “go home” and it’ll somehow save him from being impeached and imprisoned.
