Donald Trump stunned into silence
For a guy who just won an election, Donald Trump sure has been keeping a low profile. He’s barely been in the public eye at all over the past few weeks. Even when he’s occasionally surfaced, it’s typically been something like an appearance at a sporting event where he hasn’t had to speak.
Even as Trump has more or less disappeared from public view since the election, he’s continued to periodically surface on social media – but not anymore. In the two-plus days since Matt Gaetz was forced to withdraw, Trump has gone silent completely. He’s posted nothing on Twitter. The only things he’s “posted” on Truth Social have been formal announcements that were obviously written and posted by his staff. Trump himself has simply disappeared.
It’s fair to say that Trump has been stunned into silence by the humiliating failure of his Matt Gaetz nomination. Trump, in his deeply addled state, must have thought the nomination was somehow a good idea. And Trump’s babysitters must have told him it was going to work. But now that Trump’s highest profile pick has failed and delivered a body blow to his not-yet-started presidency, Trump appears to have nothing to say. That is if he can even remember where he’s at.
