Donald Trump resorts to desperate measures with his New York criminal trial set to get underway
Even as Donald Trump tries to drag out his federal criminal trials, his New York criminal trial is set to get underway two weeks from today. There’s nothing Trump can do to delay this trial, but that doesn’t means he’s not trying.
Trump has now made a last ditch filing which hilariously claims that his illegal payments to Stormy Daniels are somehow covered under “presidential immunity.” But Trump has already tried this angle in his New York case, and lost. So this new filing simply isn’t going to do anything at all. It’s like throwing eggs at a brick wall and hoping it’ll fall down.
I recently wrote about how the media was still largely ignoring Donald Trump’s New York criminal trial, even though it’s just two weeks away, because it doesn’t fit the ratings narrative about how he’s just going to magically delay all of his trials. Now that Trump has made a dead-end filing in his New York trial that has no chance of delaying anything, the media will probably try to convince us that the New York trial is doomed. But in reality, Trump is going on criminal trial in two weeks. Period.
