Donald Trump panics and bails on 60 Minutes interview

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump keeps falling a little further behind in this election, and he needs to find a way to try to get back in the game. The trouble for him: each time he makes a public appearance, he makes things even worse for himself. Trump’s first debate with Kamala Harris went so poorly for him, he’s afraid to do a second one.

Trump also agreed to do an interview with 60 Minutes, which would be key opportunity for free nationwide publicity for his campaign and agenda. But now 60 Minutes says that Trump has changed his mind and bailed on the interview. This can only be seen as a panic move on the part of Trump or his handlers, depending on who made the decision to pull the plug. But this means that either Trump has become so skittish that he’s afraid to even try doing mainstream media interviews, or Trump’s people think he’s become so senile that the interview would do more harm than good.

In any case it’s nothing short of remarkable to watch a major party nominee for President, who’s firmly behind in the polls with just weeks to go, passing up the kinds of opportunities that could help him get back in the race. Donald Trump is, in a word, surrendering. That doesn’t mean the election is over. We have to treat this like a toss-up race and keep working every day until the finish line. But it’s becoming more clear that Trump isn’t working to win. Let’s use this to our advantage. Sign up to volunteer with the Kamala Harris campaign here.
