Donald Trump now has to worry about being indicted for racketeering as well

Dear readers, we've just launched the Palmer Report 2025 Operating Expenses Fund. If we can fully fund this, it'll bridge the gap and ensure that Palmer Report can keep fighting now and forever. It was reported by a major news outlets on Monday that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is eyeing criminally indicting Donald Trump for racketeering. Yet that story is getting very little attention, due to a separate story on Monday about Trump filing a nonsense appeal in Fulton County. This is why Trump made the filing. He’s still trying to control the media cycle.

Will Trump’s nonsense filing succeed? No. Will it allow him to delay anything? No. But he got the media coverage he wanted today. He wanted the media to portray him as fighting back, doing something, winning the battle. And he got that. He got nothing else, but he got that.

The Fulton County DA is putting it out there that she’s eyeing a racketeering indictment against Trump! It’s no longer just about election fraud, it’s graduated to racketeering. Do you know what a big deal that is? John Gotti was convicted of racketeering. Sammy “the Bull” Gravano pleaded guilty to racketeering. This is mobster downfall stuff.

But what’s getting all the media coverage today out of Fulton County? Not the racketeering indictment Trump is apparently facing. Trump’s silly little filing that won’t succeed, and that legal experts expect won’t even delay his indictment, is getting all the attention.

Winning a news cycle doesn’t help Trump at all when it comes to his position in the criminal justice system. He keeps making it clear that he has no idea how to deal with being a criminal defendant. But if nothing else he’s still winning news cycles – if only because the media is still so eager to help him win news cycles. And that’s an indictment of the media.
