Donald Trump makes absurd late night Truth Social post that gives away just how far gone he is
On Friday, a surreal yet ultimately zero-impact storyline played out. It was revealed that while the jury was deliberating in Donald Trump’s criminal trial, someone claiming to be a juror’s cousin announced on the court system’s Facebook page that the jury had already decided to convict Trump. But it was immediately clear that the whole thing was just a prank, and a transparent one at that.
Still, the most hopelessly deluded of Trump supporters began insisting on social media that this was somehow grounds for a mistrial. And by one in the morning, Trump was making this one-word post on Truth Social: “MISTRIAL!!!”
Sure, Donald. You’re going to get a mistrial because some prankster made a Facebook post pretending to be a juror’s cousin. This is all just so laughable. If a juror were actually feeding information to his or her cousin during deliberations, that would be a different story. But this prank isn’t anything, and it has literally zero chance of having any legal impact.
The real story here is that Donald Trump is so hopelessly far gone, he’s reduced to believing that some Facebook prank is somehow magically going to get him off the hook. Trump’s life is over, and he knows it, and so delusional imaginary hope is all he has left. It won’t help him any.
