Donald Trump launches bizarrely unhinged public attack on his own appointee, gives something away
Donald Trump’s highest profile appointments and nominees thus far have been so laughably unsuitable, even the Republican Senate has been actively pushing back. Matt Gaetz has already been forced out of contention, and other nominees like RFK Jr and Tulsi Gabbard appear to be in trouble.
Trump’s bizarrely empty headed power play has resulted in the Senate taking significant power away from Trump before he even takes office. That’s remarkable, given that the Republican Senate was clearly hoping to just roll over for Trump if it could. Trump has also ineptly forced the Republican House to take power away from him on budgetary matters after Trump’s buffoon Musk nearly caused a government shutdown.
Now that Trump’s wings have been clipped, he (or whoever is making decisions for him while he stares in confusion at the TV) appears to understand just how powerless he is. For instance, Trump just appointed Morgan Ortagus to a government position. We don’t know much about Morgan Ortagus, beyond the fact that Trump hates Morgan Ortagus. How do we know this? Trump just posted this:
“I am pleased to announce Morgan Ortagus as Deputy Special Presidential Envoy for Middle East Peace, to the Honorable Steven Witkoff. Early on Morgan fought me for three years, but hopefully has learned her lesson. These things usually don’t work out, but she has strong Republican support, and I’m not doing this for me, I’m doing it for them. Let’s see what happens.”
So let’s see here. Trump is now so weakened and desperate to get back in the good graces of his own party, he’s reduced to appointing someone he hates just to make the party happy. He’s so miserable about this, he’s reduced to ranting publicly about how much he wishes he didn’t have to do this. And he’s so far gone, he doesn’t realize how weak he’s making himself look by ranting like this about someone he’s being forced to appoint.
