Donald Trump just waved the white flag in Fulton County
When Donald Trump and his allies announced that they would try to get their Fulton County criminal trials moved to federal court, Palmer Report pointed out that this had just about zero chance of being granted. We also pointed out that the failed attempt wouldn’t delay their Fulton County trials by even a single day. The whole thing was an ill-advised waste of time and effort on their part.
Then Trump flunky Mark Meadows idiotically took the stand under oath in an attempt at getting his trial moved to federal court, only to lose the ruling and further incriminate himself in the process.
Now Donald Trump has announced that he’s giving up his own battle to try to get his Fulton County case moved to federal court. That’s not a surprise at all. This was a pointless strategy all along, and once Meadows found that out the hard way, Trump really had no option but to give up as well.
The doomsday pundits on TV are already trying to spin this as Trump having decided to keep his trial in Fulton County because he now knows he’s magically going to win there. But that’s a laugh out loud fictional take. Trump never had the ability to move his trial to federal court to begin with. He was always going to fail at that attempt. And now he’s simply failed at it. It doesn’t mean he’s magically winning. Instead it’s a good reminder that Trump has absolutely no ability to fight back against what the legal system is doing to him.
