Donald Trump just tipped off that he thinks is New York civil fraud verdict is imminent and will be devastating
What does “early to mid February” mean to you? What’s the latest date that something could happen and still reasonably fit that disruption? That’s one of the ugly questions Donald Trump has been forced to chew on of late.
Judge Arthur Engoron’s court announced at the start of February that the final verdict in Trump’s New York civil fraud trial would arrive in early to mid February. Engoron’s filings then made clear that the slight day from the original January 31st timeframe was only because Engoron is exploring whether Allen Weisselberg’s perjury charge resulting from the trial makes things even worse for Trump.
So what are we looking at as far the verdict? This week? Early next week? Tomorrow? Now Trump is tipping of that he thinks the verdict is imminent. On a day when his focus should seemingly have been on his big new failed Supreme Court appeal, he’s instead ranting obsessively about his New York civil fraud case.
This is just a small part of Trump’s ongoing ranting this evening about the case: “Unconstitutional Gag Order should have never been instituted, 100% Happy and Satisfied Banks and Insurance Companies, that made Hundreds of Millions of Dollars in profits from doing business with me, should have been listened to, and, the Appellate Division should not have been disrespected by this out of control Judge, who is angry at them for already having overridden him…”
For starts, it’s “overruled” not “overridden.” And it didn’t happen anyway. But Trump is really, really obsessed tonight with the upcoming verdict in this case. He’s giving away that he thinks it’s imminent, and that it’ll be devastating for him. Is Trump merely becoming obsessed with fear tonight about the idea that “early to mid February” is coming up awfully fast, or does he actually know that the verdict is imminent? Tick tock.
