Donald Trump just “tanked his campaign”

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

This morning I wrote that Joe Biden is having a remarkably good week, while Donald Trump is having a jarringly bad week. The only question is whether Trump’s bad week is more about the fact that he’s about to go on criminal trial, or the fact that he’s squarely on the wrong side of the week’s abortion rights developments.

In any case, Trump keeps making the abortion rights thing even uglier for him than it already is. Is there a smart way for him to respond to the Arizona Supreme Court ruling? Probably not. But he keeps picking the dumbest way possible to respond. He’s still talking about how we should be leaving it to the states, even as the states are making a total mess of it.

To that end, Mary Trump thinks that Donald Trump’s failed response to the Arizona Supreme Court ruling means that he’s “tanked his campaign in every swing state.” That’s pretty much on the nose.

As I keep saying, presidential general elections are so poorly designed that one candidate can be doing great and the other candidate can be doing poorly, and it can still end up being a chaotically close result. So we can’t just assume that Biden is going to win, we have to work for it. But Trump keeps doing everything he can to blow it for himself.
