Donald Trump just screwed over his loyalist George P. Bush

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Even as other more famous members of the Bush political family have condemned or distanced themselves from Donald Trump, George P. Bush decided to sell out his family and profess his loyalty to Trump. Even as recently as two weeks ago, “George P.” was tweeting about how wonderful Trump was, in the rather blatant hope that Trump would show him some love in return.

Of course for Donald Trump, loyalty is only ever a one way street. On Monday, Trump endorsed George P. Bush’s Republican primary opponent, Ken Paxton. This is presumably because Paxton was the one who filed a ludicrous suit attempting to overturn the 2020 election, and presumably because Paxton learned some of Trump’s dirty secrets in the process of helping him try to overturn the election.

Donald Trump only ever shows “loyalty” to people he’s afraid of, such as Paul Manafort and Michael Flynn. Trump was never going to show loyalty to George P. Bush, just because the guy spent all this time kissing Trump’s butt. And so another naively ambitious Trump loyalist finds his place under the bus.
