Donald Trump just screwed himself royally

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump was already facing nothing but bad options when it came to his decision whether or not to agree to an interview with Special Counsel Robert Mueller. If Trump agrees and tells the truth, he risks incriminating himself. If Trump agrees and lies about what happened, he risks getting nailed for the crime of misleading federal investigators. If he refuses to do the interview and he has to plead the Fifth, he’s likely finished politically. Now his options just got even uglier.

Yesterday we learned that Trump instructed his White House Counsel Don McGahm to fire Mueller back in June, and he only backed down when McGahn refused and threatened to resign. This means that McGahn and likely Reince Priebus, among other current and former Trump advisers, have already testified to Mueller that they witnessed Trump’s attempt at firing Mueller.

This means that if Trump does speak to Mueller, he cannot answer the question of whether he tried to fire Mueller. If he says yes, he’s confessing to felony obstruction of justice and he’s punched his ticket to prison. If he lies and says no, he’s commuting a felony by lying, and he’s also looking at prison. Trump was already looking at having to navigate a nearly impossible tightrope with his testimony. This new revelation will allow Mueller to focus in even tighter and leave Trump in a no-win situation.

So now we know that Donald Trump has utterly, totally screwed himself when it comes to Robert Mueller. Not only did he make the mistake of half heartedly trying to illegally fire Mueller, he also didn’t foresee that his own people would sell him out for it in order to protect themselves. Trump is a failure in the business world, a failure in politics, and now it turns out he’s a failure at committing crimes.
