Donald Trump just reached the height desperation to try to keep himself from being indicted

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

When the DOJ had the FBI search Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home and seize the classified documents he was hiding there, it was because a federal judge signed off on a search and seizure warrant under the expectation that evidence of a crime would be found inside Trump’s home. Sure enough, the Feds found plenty of evidence of a crime, and ended up removing numerous classified documents that Trump had stolen – reportedly including nuclear secrets.

Since that time Trump and his inept legal team have made numerous stupid moves, including several instances of Trump publicly demanding that the documents be returned to him – a confession on his part that he knew he had the documents in his possession. Now Trump and his team have come up with an even dumber and more desperate approach, completely delusional in fact, and we’re frankly stunned that CNN is printing it.

CNN is now proudly reporting an “exclusive story” which starts off with this sentence: “Donald Trump’s legal team is weighing whether to allow federal agents to return to the former President’s Florida residence, and potentially conduct a supervised search, to satisfy the Justice Department’s demands that all sensitive government documents are returned.”

Wait, what? Huh? Just… what? We’re seriously concerned that we might die laughing. This first sentence alone is so full of punchlines, we’re not sure where to start. First, Trump wouldn’t be “allowing” the Feds to come back and search his property. They already searched it with a warrant once, and can easily return with a warrant if they want to, without Trump getting any say in it.

Nor would Trump or his lawyers get to “supervise” such a search. Are you kidding? Trump obviously doesn’t get that kind of say in the matter. Nor would a second search somehow get Trump off the legal hook, given that the publicly released documents make it clear that Trump is in the process of being criminally indicted for espionage and obstruction.

We’re not sure what’s more laughable here. On the one hand, Trump is so frantically desperate to avoid being indicted, he’s actually floating this kind of delusional nonsense as if it might have some chance in hell of actually working. On the other hand, CNN is in such a pathetic place as a news organization, it actually published this article from Trump’s point of view, spelling out Trump’s delusional fantasies as if they were something that could ever actually happen.

We’ll see how many other major news outlets commit the journalistic sin of treating this CNN “exclusive” as if it were somehow a real thing, and how many major news outlets have the integrity to call out CNN’s article as little more than a copy-paste of Trump’s delusions of grandeur. Either way, we do wonder what prompted Trump and his legal team to leak this nonsense to CNN tonight. It does make us wonder if perhaps Trump’s team suspects the DOJ is about to come back in with another warrant, and they want to preemptively paint such a move as overbearing. In any case, this just goes to show how pathetically afraid Trump is of his inevitable indictment, and how delusionally he’s trying to cling to his lost power and relevance.
