Donald Trump just lost in court again this weekend
At this point Donald Trump’s legal “strategy” could best be described by comparing it to trying to knock down a brick wall by throwing eggs at it. There’s zero chance of it working, and all he’s doing is making a mess for his own side of the wall.
To that end, now that Trump has fumbled his way to a $83.3 million judgment against him in the E. Jean Carroll trial, Trump has decided to ask the same judge for an indefinite stay of the judgment. If this sounds like something that had literally zero chance of working, you’re right, and the judge has indeed promptly rejected it.
It’s more important than ever to keep in mind that these kinds of filings don’t actually delay anything – not by a day, not by an hour. The clock is already running on Trump’s window for filing an appeal in the Carroll verdict, and filings like this don’t change the timeframe. Nor will this kind of filing help Trump later in an appeal.
Even as everyone tries to identify a coherent strategy in Donald Trump’s legal moves, suffice it to say that there simply is none. Trump is a guy who’s so far gone, he doesn’t appear to remember his family. And his attorneys are making filings like this just to keep him satisfied that something is being done, even though it’s all for nothing.
