Donald Trump just had his “Benedict Arnold” moment

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Most of you spent the Fourth of July celebrating and enjoying yourselves. Donald Trump spent the Fourth of July panic-posting on his social media network in almost manic fashion, at one point sharing about sixty posts in a span of five hours. It was a dead giveaway that he has received bad news, or fully expects bad news to happen in the next day or two.

Trump’s final post on the Fourth of July was an insane rendering of himself leading the American army in a Revolutionary War battle. This would be a bizarrely unhinged thing for any former U.S. President โ€“ or really anyone at all โ€“ to do. But for a guy like Trump, who was just criminally charged under the Espionage Act, it’s completely bonkers.

To that end, Trump’s Truth Social post caused numerous people on Twitter to begin referring to him as “Benedict Arnold” โ€“ causing that name to begin trending. That’s right, Donald Trump just had his Benedict Arnold moment.
