Donald Trump just gave away how truly desperate he is

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Ever since Donald Trump was forced out of power, we’ve seen endless narratives (from both sides) about how he’s more dangerously powerful than ever. But we just keep waiting for that to be the case. What we’re instead seeing is a Donald Trump who’s completely powerless, utterly frustrated at how powerless he is, and desperately flailing like someone who thinks he’s already lost.

Take, for instance, the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision on Friday to hear the question of whether Colorado can remove Trump from the 2024 ballot under the 14th Amendment. Trump responded to the news by saying this:

.
We keep seeing this framed as a “crime boss who knows what he’s doing.” But that’s not what this is. If Trump thought he had the Supreme Court in his pocket on this matter, he wouldn’t have to say something like this. He’s taking a big risk by saying this, because it could easily backfire. Brett Kavanaugh, who seems to be scared of everyone on both sides these days, could look at this and decide that he can’t side with Trump now because Trump just made it too obvious.

It’s tough to say what this Supreme Court, which is as inconsistent as it is unhinged, will end up doing with this case. But whatever the odds are of Trump winning this ruling, his desperate words have probably lowered those odds, not raised them. When you’re that desperate, you end up making a lot of stupid mistakes. Trump just made yet another.
