Donald Trump just crapped the Twitter bed

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump’s legal team decided to use just over two hours out of the allotted eight hours today to put on its impeachment trial defense. Team Trump will get another shot on Monday, but today was a textbook example of mailing it in and not even trying to keep up appearances. Now that Trump’s lawyers have laid an egg, Trump is trying to one-up them in the stupidity department on Twitter. This afternoon Donald Trump posted this tweet:

“You don’t come to court and ask for witnesses after you’ve already presented your case, unless you know your case is not working. I think their real motivation is for them to keep this President busy. We’re doing a great job on the economy, we’re building our military, look…..”

The quotation marks were his, not ours, so Trump was clearly quoting someone. This was going to be one of his long quotes that went across multiple tweets. So let’s check out part two of his tweet:

“…at the judges that we have right now.”

Well okay then. That’s it. That’s all he tweeted. He doesn’t even appear to understand that he needs to tell us who said these words. He’s just quoting nobody in particular. Maybe it’s someone on Fox News. Maybe it’s his imaginary friend Jim. Doesn’t matter, the quote is nonsense anyway. Trump’s got nothing. Update: Naturally, after we made fun of Trump for this, he went back and added that the quote was from GOP Senator Jim Inhofe. Too little, too late. Trump has no idea how anything works.
