Donald Trump just caved
For all of the repetitive chants of “Trump will never debate Kamala Harris no matter what” on social media, the reality has always been different. With Trump firmly behind in the polls, he really has no choice but to roll the dice and try debating her. If Trump failed to do the debate, he’d be surrendering.
Sure enough, Trump has announced this afternoon that he has indeed agreed to participate in the ABC News debate on September 10th, with the same format employed in the previous debate. In other words, Trump couldn’t get any real concessions, so he simply ended up caving.
Trump is ranting and raving about how ABC is “FAKE NEWS”and how the moderator is “by far the nastiest and most unfair newscaster in the business” and such. But whatever. Trump can’t obscure the fact that he simply caved.
Of course Trump caved on the debate right around the time he got criminally indicted by Jack Smith again, so he’s probably just hoping to change the narrative away from what a criminal he is. But it shows how thoroughly this indictment backs Trump into a no-win corner.
