Donald Trump just blinked
Our President In Name Only Trump (PINOT) flew out to Los Angeles on Friday for a publicity op to tour the wildfire damage and likely criticize local officials for their handling of the fires. However, California Governor Gavin Newsom made a preemptive strike on Trump, meeting PINOT directly on the airport ramp as he and Melania exited Air Force One.
The Governor stood ramrod straight and taller than PINOT, and locked eyes with Trump as he extended a firm handshake. PINOT leaned back from Newsom with a look of befuddled surprise, as Trump probably never expected Newsom to show up and get into his face. Trump tried to pull his hand away from Newsom’s grasp, but the Governor firmly held onto it as he continued to look Trump in the eye while addressing him.
The body language of the two couldn’t be more telling, with Newsom standing straight and looking down on Trump as PINOT cowered back from the governor. Adding to Trump‘s humiliation was an exchange of a noticeably affectionate kiss between Newsom and Melania behind Trump‘s back as they started to walk away from the airport ramp.
Newsom continued to rain on Trump‘s parade by sharing the microphone during Trump‘s news conference at the airport. Newsom was very effusive in his praise for Trump’s appearance, and essentially painted Trump into a corner by stating that California residents will be very grateful to Trump for extending expected federal disaster assistance.
PINOT looked meek as Newsom aggressively addressed the media. This was a classic butting of the heads of two alpha male animals, and the old one blinked.
