Donald Trump isn’t running for anything

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump just went to Nevada under the guise of a 2024 campaign tour, and while he was there he publicly referred to the state as “disgraceful.” This is not a guy who’s trying to win anything or even running for anything. That’s… obvious. He and his fake campaign are just going through the motions so he can bring in donations to his “campaign” and use it to pay for his defense for his criminal trials.

The only real question at this point is whether a visibly fading Trump still has enough cognitive capacity to understand that this isn’t a real campaign. Does he, in his diminished capacity, think that his incoherent farting around in public is somehow a real campaign? Is he so far gone that he now thinks this is what campaigning looks like? Perhaps so. After all, while Trump was in Nevada, he also appeared to make the insane claim that the state might install an ocean one day. He’s in that part of his cognitive downfall.

Or maybe there’s just enough left of Donald Trump’s mind that he knows exactly what this is. It’s a bare minimum, bare bones, barely there attempt at pretending he’s running for something, thrown together by the handful of political hacks who haven’t yet moved on from him. The whole thing is a joke. And maybe Trump is in on it. Or maybe he is the joke. But when you’re set to stand criminal trial multiple times on dozens of felony counts between now and the next election, you’re not actually running for anything – whether you think you are or not.
