Donald Trump isn’t going to make it – and it’s time we start talking about it

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Some dementia patients rapidly go downhill due to increasing stress. Other dementia patients go rapidly downhill just because they do. Whatever the reason for the rapid acceleration of Donald Trump’s dementia symptoms, he’s going downhill fast. You know how bamboo grows so fast you can watch it happen in real time? That’s what it’s now like watching Trump decline.

It’s not just that Trump is going out there in front of the cameras every few days and giving even more completely senile moments for the media to air on repeat. That’s bad enough, given that coming off as fully senile is a surefire way to chase away persuadable voters. The real problem for Trump is that it’s getting worse. Within the span of a month he’s gone from one or two senile moments per speech, to now five or ten senile moments per speech. Assuming his condition keeps rapidly worsening – and it almost surely will – where will he be in another month?

It’s not just that Trump is going to keep saying more and more senile things per speech. It’s that his mental confusion is going to become more profound. Instead of getting confused about who’s who, or how to speak, he’s going to start thinking that the stage is his living room, and wander around asking if anyone has seen the remote control. Or he’s going to think that the stage is a bathroom, and pee all over his podium. These examples aren’t meant to be funny. They’re meant to convey where things are headed next for this guy. And this kind of thing will start to happen soon.

There’s also the reality that while plenty of dementia patients can live for quite a long time with the condition, a lot of people with rapidly worsening dementia don’t live particularly long – some medical experts say that their remaining lifespan can be just months.

It’s not just that Donald Trump could soon reach a point where he can’t go out in public without incident. It’s that he could be deceased soon. What are the odds? They’re certainly a lot higher than zero. Let’s put it that way.

So what does any of this mean politically? There’s a reason Nikki Haley is still in the race, even though she’s not going to come close to winning the primary voting. We’re still four and a half months away from the Republican National Convention. Given Trump’s rapidly declining condition, that’s a lifetime from now. Perhaps literally.

It’s also worth keeping in mind that Trump’s New York criminal trial is set to start in just three weeks. He’ll be a convicted felon staring at a prison sentence by the time he gets to the convention. But perhaps just as importantly, he’s about to go through the stress of a criminal trial, and the stress of being convicted. This is a guy whose dementia symptoms are already getting worse by the day as he goes through the stress of his civil trials and financial destruction.

There’s no way for anyone to predict what will be left of Donald Trump by the time of the Republican National Convention, let alone Election Day. Convicted? Certainly. Too deep into dementia to even appear in public? Maybe. Deceased from dementia? Perhaps.

Where does this leave us? Again, no one can predict with any specificity. But that’s the point. The major media outlets are just now starting to give Trump’s dementia a fraction of the coverage that it deserves, as if it were some mere concern and not a crisis. But for Trump, his dementia is a crisis that’s eating away at his existence by the day. One way or the other, there will soon be nothing left of him.
