Donald Trump isn’t even trying to hide it

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

We now know that Donald Trump is under active criminal investigation in multiple jurisdictions. We see him presenting as being in poor physical condition and semi-senile cognitive condition when he does periodically surface in public. And yet the media wants us to believe, now more than ever, that Trump is somehow going to be an actual viable candidate in the 2024 election. This is… laughable. The thing is, Trump isn’t even trying to hide it.

Golf course Republicans make a core part of Donald Trump’s political base, and he knows it. Yet he’s now wading into the golf tournament industry, not in a way that’s endearing him to the golf crowd, but instead in a way that’s alienating large chunks of the golf crowd. After all, he’s using Saudi money to try to undermine and destroy the PGA, which a huge chunk of the golf course crowd finds offensive.

It’s not just that Trump is actively pissing off his golf course industry base for the sake of a quick Saudi cash grab. Trump has also sold off the lease to his hotel down the street from the White House. While in office, Trump used that hotel as his base of operations for his shady side deals. If Trump had any expectation of ever being back in the White House again, he would never have parted with the lease.

These are the moves of a broke has-been who’s making short term cash grabs and just trying to make it to the end of each month without going bankrupt, and doesn’t care what happens beyond that. Every move Trump is making these days is all about staying afloat financially in the short term, at the direct expense of any long term aspirations. Beyond fantasies, this isn’t a guy who has any expectation of a future.

The defeatists on our side are still insisting that Trump is making these brazen short term cash grabs because he’s now so immortally powerful, he knows he can make all these self defeating moves and still somehow magically become President in 2024. But that’s not within a million miles of reality. These are the same defeatists who spent four years insisting Trump would win in 2020 no matter what. They don’t live in the real world.

What we are seeing in the real world is that Donald Trump is in the process of losing his health, his cognitive abilities, his financial house of cards, and his freedom, and that everything he wants us to believe about his supposed 2024 campaign is all just an attempt at keeping his sinking ship afloat. He’s delusionally praying that hinting that he’s going to run in 2024 will somehow keep him out of prison, even though that’s not a real thing. He’s hoping that the money he can pocket from a 2024 faux-campaign will keep him solvent as his real estate house of cards continues to crumble.

This isn’t a guy who, outside of his daydreams, has any realistic expectation of ever being back in the White House. His words are what they are. But his actions show that he’s already decided to sell out any future ambitions of actually returning to political office, in favor of cold hard cash – and he’s not even really trying to hide it.
