Donald Trump is trying to finish himself off

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

If Donald Trump wants to hold a press conference on January 6th, 2022, let him. No one should air it live. But he’s in such a frantic place, he’ll only end up saying incriminating things that make it easier to finish him off. This isn’t something to panic or fret over. We have to stop cowering to his every impotent move.

In fact there’s a good chance Trump’s press conference won’t even happen. There’s a reason why half the things he announces like this end up not happening; these are terrible self-defeating ideas that his handlers and lawyers try desperately to talk him out of.

“But if he opens his mouth he’ll trigger another organized violent attack and this time it’ll succeed!” No. Trump doesn’t control the military or law enforcement anymore, so he can’t clear a path for his idiot goons to carry out a successful attack.

“But he shouldn’t be allowed to hold a press conference on January 6th!” At the risk of stating the obvious, the words “shouldn’t be allowed” don’t appear anywhere in the Constitution or the law. You can’t just magically stop a guy from holding a press conference because of what you think he might say.

“But [someone] should arrest Trump before he can hold a press conference!” You’re not seriously urging prosecutors to arrest Trump before the case is ready and winnable, just to stop him from holding a press conference that almost no one will watch anyway, are you?

Trump wants to hold this press conference on 1/6/2022 because he sees that New York is very close to indicting him, and that the 1/6 committee is about to hold public hearings to make the case to the American people that he should be federally indicted. It’s a desperation move. The thing about desperation moves is they usually just make things worse for that person. Try to imagine any specific scenario – not a generic “fear and damage” narrative, but a specific scenario, where Trump comes out ahead by holding this press conference. You can’t.

Keep in mind that even once Trump is indicted and arrested in New York for financial crimes, he’ll still likely get out on bail (or house arrest at the worst). Do you think he’s going to shut up then? He’ll keep running his mouth on his way down, while his lawyers beg him not to.

We have to get out of this mindset of cowering to a broken defeated toothless loser like Donald Trump. If he thinks he can scare and paralyze us by running his mouth and making empty threats, he’ll just run his mouth even more. We have to show him we’re not impressed with him. If you’re lamenting, fretting, cowering, or making doomsday predictions about Trump’s upcoming 1/6 press conference, then you’re playing right into his hands.

You want to be “vigilant” about Donald Trump? Laugh in his face every time he speaks. Make sure everyone out there hears you laughing. Let everyone see that he can’t scare you with his empty threats. Baseless fear is the only weapon he has. Laughing at him is how you disarm him.

We were told we were supposed to lament and fret over Trump’s tour with Bill O’Reilly. But all it did was show everyone, including his own supporters, that he can’t draw a crowd like he used to. He harmed himself with that tour, just to get his hands on a few short term dollars.

In fact the only smart thing Trump did in 2021 was not speak much, because at this point every time he appears in public it goes very poorly for him and he makes himself that much more non-viable. But now he can’t keep quiet anymore? Good. Let him verbally finish himself off, one humiliating failed public appearance at a time.
