Donald Trump is so close to getting it

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. This week Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, who has national political ambitions, endorsed Ron DeSantis over Donald Trump for 2024. This turned quite a few heads, given that DeSantis’ 2024 campaign is in full scale collapse.

Trump, for his part, posted this to social media: “Why would anybody endorse Ron DeSanctimonious, who is like a wounded bird falling from the sky? His Poll numbers are terrible … What’s that all about?”

Trump is so close to getting it. He correctly understands that it’s an extraordinarily move for prominent members of the Republican Party to be endorsing candidates who are in a distant second place. What Trump doesn’t quite get is that Reynolds is endorsing DeSantis because she expects Trump’s 2024 ambitions (and his life) to be destroyed by his criminal trials, and she’s trying to position herself for after Trump takes his inevitable hard fall.
