Donald Trump is running for his life

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump held yet another political rally this weekend for his 2020 reelection campaign. Some have taken the mere fact that he’s running for reelection as a sign that he’s going to survive politically until the end of his term, or that he thinks he’s going to survive. Palmer Report has pointed out all along that he’s not really running for reelection, at least not at present, because you just don’t gain anything by campaigning this early – unless you have an entirely different and underhanded motive. We’ve just been reminded of how desperate that motive is.

Trump has been using these “reelection” rallies to raise money for his supposed 2020 campaign. Yet all along we’ve seen various reports that those campaign funds have been used to pay for things like Donald Trump Jr’s exorbitant legal bills in the Trump-Russia scandal. In other words, Trump’s “reelection campaign” is a grift. But now we’re seeing that it’s something more pressing than that. It’s one thing to hold a few fraudulent rallies and kick the money to your kid. It’s another to use that money to try to desperately buy off potential witnesses against you.

The Trump “reelection” campaign has paid more than a quarter million dollars of Michael Cohen’s legal bills, according to a new report from ABC News. In other words, Trump is stuffing wads of cash into the pocket of a guy who is about to be indicted on serious criminal charges, and who is going to be tempted to cut a plea deal against Trump.

This is sheer desperation. Donald Trump clearly thinks that buying Michael Cohen’s silence is paramount. Yet instead of writing Cohen a check, he’s going to all the trouble of this phony “reelection” charade just to raise enough cash to pay Cohen off. It’s yet another reminder that Trump really is so upside-down financially, he’s broke. It’s also the latest evidence that Trump isn’t running for reelection; he’s running for his life.
