Donald Trump is out of gas

One of the fundamental rules of being a politician is that anytime the media says something positive about you or your policies, or says anything neutral that you can spin positive and amplify, you do it. If it comes from the mainstream media, great. When it occasionally comes from the media on the other side, even better. If it’s only coming from the media on your side, so be it, you amplify that. And if you’re not getting any of the above, you’re screwed.
This brings us to Donald Trump, who is making such a disastrous mess of things that even outlets like Fox News are having to admit that the stock market is tanking and the economy is on the brink. This has forced Trump to settle for amplifying the scattered praise he’s getting from ultra right wing pro-Trump websites, which is just sort of embarrassing. Now it’s getting even worse.
On Sunday, Trump posted this quote on his social media: “We need Tariffs on China!” This quote came from a guy who once predicted that China would collapse by 2011. When that didn’t happen, he then changed his prediction to 2012. Last we checked, we’re still waiting.
This is who Trump is now reduced to quoting. Beyond this guy, Trump is having a really hard time finding anyone who agrees with his tariff insanity. As the stock market opens this morning and inevitably plunges even further than it did last week, let’s remember that Trump has essentially no one on his side when it comes to what he’s doing. This comes even as millions of people have taken to the streets to protest against him. Trump is out of gas.
