Donald Trump is melting down on the stand

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

The only way Donald Trump’s testimony could have gone well for him today in his New York civil fraud trial was if he managed to give coherent, believable, persuasive testimony that convinced the judge that there was no fraud. Suffice it to say that Trump’s testimony today has been the opposite of that, and he’s going to end up with the opposite result.

Trump is essentially trying to campaign from the witness stand instead of answering the questions, which is a good way to forfeit the case. Trump seems to think that his bluster is running out the clock and allowing him to avoid having to answer serious questions. But as Judge Engoron alluded to when he asked Trump’s attorneys to control their client, Trump’s failure to address the questions he’s being asked just means that he’ll lose this trial in even bigger fashion.

Does Trump think that this kind of behavior is somehow helping him? Is he under the mistaken impression that there are cameras in the courtroom? Is he so senile that he honestly thinks this is one of this rallies? Does he hear an imaginary crowd cheering for him in the courtroom?

In any case, today is a good gauge for just how badly Donald Trump wants to destroy his life, and how far he’s willing to go to make sure his life is destroyed. This idiotic appearance on the witness stand will merely cost him everything he has. When he plays his criminal trials in exactly the same way – because he never learns a thing from his failures – it’ll cost him his freedom as well.
