Donald Trump is just humiliating himself with this one

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. Donald Trump has already admitted, in court filings and in multiple social media posts, that he’s too broke to come up with the half billion dollars needed to post bond in his New York civil fraud verdict.

Yet now things are taking a particularly bizarre turn, as Trump is claiming in a new social media post (but not in any court filing) that he has the half billion dollars in cash but doesn’t want to have to use it for the bond.

There’s a small chance that this means Trump has indeed somehow come up with the cash. But it’s far more likely that Trump is simply trying to avoid admitting (to himself as much as to anyone else) that he’s too broke to cover the bond. So he’s trying to split the difference between pretending he’s rich while also failing to pay the bond.

Not that any of it matters. Trump may have managed to produce a bunch of headlines today claiming that he has half a billion dollars cash on hand, which is what he wanted. But if Trump’s social media post about having the cash is indeed mere self delusion, then the state will begin seizing his assets on Monday, regardless of what he might be saying on social media.
