Donald Trump is in serious trouble in Iowa

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. From the very start it’s been clear that Donald Trump isn’t actually running a real 2024 campaign. In spite of announcing early, he’s since done the bare minimum of campaign events. He’s passed up obvious campaign opportunities, such as never returning to Twitter after being reinstated. Best anyone can tell, Trump has never bothered to hire a 2024 campaign manager.

This is all because he’s not really running for anything. Trump has simply been going through the motions of acting like he’s going to be a candidate in 2024, so he can rake in quasi-campaign donations from his gullible base, so he can use that money to fund his very expensive legal bills. The only real question has been whether Trump is in on this scam of a fake campaign, or if he’s so deep down the senility rabbit hole that his handlers have convinced him that this joke of a fake 2024 campaign is real.

In any case, we’re now seeing hard evidence that no “Trump 2024” campaign exists. While the Democrats have revised their primary calendar, the Republicans are still starting in Iowa. Any Republican who’s serious about winning the 2024 nomination needs to have a big presence on the ground in Iowa already, in order to not only win the Iowa caucus, but to ensure positive headlines from the national news outlets that are going to spend months on the ground in Iowa.

Then there’s the “Trump 2024” campaign, which according to NBC News, has virtually no operation on the ground in Iowa. In fact the Trump “campaign” has such a joke of a presence in Iowa, even Donald Trump Jr is reportedly panicking over it. Then again, Trump Jr is probably under the naive impression that his dad’s 2024 “campaign” is supposed to be some viable thing, when in reality it’s little more than a front for paying for his dad’s legal bills.

Of course the “Trump is going to be the 2024 Republican nominee no matter what” crowd is going to spin this by suggesting that Trump is such a lock to be the nominee, he doesn’t even need a real operation on the ground in Iowa. But that’s a pretty insane take. Trump is only polling at around 50% in Republican primary polls, meaning that if some other candidate gets hot and consolidates the anti-Trump vote within the Republican primary base, Trump could easily lose the nomination. In fact Trump would likely be in second place right now if Ron DeSantis hadn’t face planted so badly of his own accord.

Donald Trump is in a very fragile position within the Republican primary contest, and that’s before he starts going on trial โ€“ over and over again โ€“ on more than ninety felony counts. There are going to be serious questions asked about his viability and credibility, even on his own side of the fence. And as these questions start pouring in, all the focus will be on Iowa, where Trump doesn’t have any serious people on the ground.

One could say that Donald Trump is setting himself up to lose. But this is a guy who’s going to prison during the course of this election cycle. So it would be more accurate to say that he and his babysitters are simply not bothering to try to set him up to win an election that he’s not really going to be a viable participant in anyway. In that sense why waste money on setting up a credible presence in the Iowa caucus, when all the money can instead be spent on the thing it’s being raised for to begin with โ€“ to cover Trump’s legal expenses and cushion his financial collapse on his way to prison.
