When the FBI carried out a search and seizure warrant at Donald Trump’s Florida home in relation to the highly classified documents he stole, Donald Trump was at Trump Tower in New York, preparing to testify in the New York Attorney General’s investigation into his financial fraud.
You know your life has taken several wrong turns when the FBI raids your home while you’re out of town because you had to go testify in a separate government investigation into you. It gets even worse for Trump.
Right about now Trump surely wants to race back to Mar-a-Lago to find out what all the FBI took, and perhaps try to hide anything that the FBI might have overlooked. But he’s probably afraid to leave Trump Tower, for fear the FBI will also raid it once he leaves there.
Donald Trump is in disaster mode. His life now has more leaks than he can plug. He has no idea where to go, what to do, what to try to protect, or what to leave vulnerable. And that’s exactly how prosecutors want him. Desperate people tend to panic and make mistakes that merely compound their troubles. Trump has been his own worst enemy for a long time, and that’s particularly true now.
