Donald Trump is bleeding the GOP dry
Donald Trump was able to run in 2016 and 2020 convincing voters that his enormous wealth was his superpower – even if no one knew exactly how much it was exactly, and there was little reason for anyone to believe his word on what he was worth. Now, however, things have taken a turn for the worse for “Don Poorleone.” While his most ardent supporters are claiming that his constitutional rights have been violated by having him pay over $100 million for a bond, it’s clear that the former guy hasn’t had the money he’s claimed to be worth for some time.
Running his obvious grifts like social media shares, crypto and autographed bibles has done a pretty good job of breaking that news that he’s low on cash to anyone on the fence whose votes Donald Trump would need to have a shot at winning. There are those, however, who actually need Donald Trump more than he needs them: down ballot Republicans in competitive elections, who once had what was seen as a fairly open path to retaking the Senate. The GOP’s platform has been unpopular for decades, so whoever runs for the Senate is largely dependent on Trump’s support among low propensity voters and Trump knows this.
His solution? Kickbacks on all uses of his likeness in the campaign commercials of congressional Republican candidates – a 5% fee. Basically, it’s a strategy that would make it easier for the Trump family to dip their hands in the coffers of the RNC. It’s going to be a difficult climb for Democrats to keep the Senate, but with the clown car of candidates Republicans have recruited, they’re giving us every opportunity we need – and Donald Trump is definitely not making it easier. This is why we need to get behind Sherrod Brown, Ruben Gallego and Jon Tester any way we can – volunteering or donating. Let’s make sure they win on Nov 5.
