Donald Trump is actively working to cost the Republicans seats in the midterms as part of his revenge ploy

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Mo Brooks committed sedition for Donald Trump, and Brooks could still end up charged for it. Yet Trump is now insisting Brooks hasn’t done enough for him, and is hyping a potential Republican primary challenger to Brooks. Two things stand out here.

First, Trump is continuing to use his most of limited remaining influence to punish his henchmen for having failed to steal him a second term. In other words, Trump isn’t looking for future success; instead he’s looking for revenge. People who are still trying to win, or who think they can win, aren’t focused on getting revenge for their past losses. Deep down even Trump surely understands that his “2024 campaign” is merely a fantasy.

Second, Trump is making a huge mess for the Republicans in the midterms. He’s chosen his preferred candidates solely based on how loyal they currently are to him, without regard for whether they can get elected or not. At least some of Trump’s non-viable candidates will become Republican nominees and end up in the general election, making it easier for the Democrats to flip some of those seats. Trump either doesn’t understand this, or doesn’t care.
