Donald Trump hits the panic button over Ivanka Trump testifying against him
Once Ivanka Trump convinced the courts that she couldn’t be a defendant in the New York civil fraud trial against Donald Trump due to the statute of limitations, it meant that she had no choice but to turn around and testify at the trial. If you have no liability, then you have no ability to plead the fifth. You simply have to testify, and there’s no getting out of it.
Ivanka Trump has been subpoenaed to testify at the trial in the coming days. But now Trump attorneys are begging the courts to allow her to get out of testifying. To be clear, this isn’t a thing. There’s no such thing as getting out of testifying at a trial. Nor is a filing like this going to delay things in any meaningful way.
All this does is reveal that Team Trump is really worried about how bad Ivanka Trump’s testimony is going to end up being for the rest of the family. Or as key witness Michael Cohen put it, “Nothing anyone from the Trump Org says regarding the evidence, including Ivanka, helps their case.”
