Donald Trump hires new attorney for his January 6th indictment, and the whole thing is just weird

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Donald Trump has burned so many attorneys, the joke is that his attorneys have to keep hiring attorneys. At this point Trump is painfully shorthanded when it comes to legal representation. Media reports said that Trump and his legal team were caught off guard by this weekend’s target letter from Jack Smith. That’s remarkable given that every one of us was expecting Trump to be indicted for January 6th within weeks, based just on what had been surfacing publicly of late.

Now that Trump and his legal team have been caught with their pants down, Trump has hired a new attorney to represent him in the January 6th case. It’s never a great sign when you’re surprised to find out you’re being indicted for the thing everyone knew you were about to be indicted for, and you’re now hiring a new attorney just hours before the grand jury’s next shot at indicting you. But it gets weirder.

Donald Trump has hired John Lauro as his new attorney. Okay, fine. But here’s the crazy part: according to the media, John Lauro “has also represented Trump attorneys Christina Bobb and Alina Habba.” That’s right, Trump incriminated his attorneys, forcing them to hire an attorney, and now he’s hiring the attorney that was representing his attorneys. Things have now gone that full circle.
