Donald Trump has whacked out “NO KNEELING” meltdown as NFL situation gets away from him

Dear Palmer Report readers,

We all understand what a dark era we're heading into. Journalists will be prosecuted. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. Advertising networks can't be counted on. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight, because someone has to.

In that regard we're looking to start funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens or how dark things get. We've launched a reader supported fund, and we've already raised $3360 and counting. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can contribute here. Thank you in advance.
Sincerely,
Bill Palmer

This week NFL quarterback Drew Brees stated that while he supports Black Lives Matter, he still disagrees with players kneeling during the National Anthem. Brees was loudly criticized by several of his own New Orleans Saints teammates and numerous other NFL players, both black and white, and he’s since apologized. Multiple Saints players have said they accept Brees’ apology and want to move forward.

So naturally, Donald Trump wants to make things worse. He tweeted: “I am a big fan of Drew Brees. I think he’s truly one of the greatest quarterbacks, but he should not have taken back his original stance on honoring our magnificent American Flag. OLD GLORY is to be revered, cherished, and flown high We should be standing up straight and tall, ideally with a salute, or a hand on heart. There are other things you can protest, but not our Great American Flag – NO KNEELING!”

This tweet set off such backlash, “NO KNEELING” quickly began trending on Twitter. In years past, Trump was able to use the kneeling issue to sharply divide Americans. But the tide is turning, and this kind of thing doesn’t work like it used to. As is increasingly the case these days, Trump is betting on a losing hand. He’s pandering solely to his base, which as recent poll numbers continue to show, isn’t nearly large enough on its own to get him reelected.
