Donald Trump has psychotic meltdown as the legal system closes in
Even as the Manhattan District Attorney’s criminal case continues to advance against Donald Trump, it’s not the only legal jeopardy he has to worry about. The Feds have been cracking down on Trump’s consigliere Rudy Giuliani for months, complete with a raid on his home and a court appointed special master. Rudy’s arrest is coming, but no one knows when. Meanwhile, Rudy finally got hit with a different kind of legal punishment today, when the courts suspended his law license.
This is a slap on the wrist in comparison to the arrest and prison time that Giuliani is ultimately facing. But it’s nonetheless a real, tangible legal punishment against a Trump co-conspirator. And it appears to have made Donald Trump realize that things really are closing in.
Trump released a rambling, screeching statement tonight that ended with the words “TAKE BACK AMERICA!” This is extraordinarily dangerous, and intentionally so, given that he’s already incited one insurrection. It’s frankly psychotic on Trump’s part.
But beyond that, the real upshot here is that Trump has realized Rudy Giuliani is going down, and he’s panicked about the idea of Rudy cutting a deal against him. This would presumably increase the odds of Trump facing federal criminal prosecution in addition to the New York State prosecution he’s already on track to face. No wonder Trump is melting down tonight.
