Donald Trump has meltdown on Air Force One

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio just entered the 2020 Democratic primary race for president. He probably doesn’t have much of a chance, considering how late he’s entering the race, how comparatively low his national profile is, and how many other Democrats have already carved out footholds in the race. But more power to him, and interestingly enough, Donald Trump is really rattled by the news.

Bill De Blasio is the Mayor of Donald Trump’s hometown of New York City, where Trump has always been hated. So naturally, Trump posted this surreal tweet this morning, focused on De Blasio’s approval rating: “The Dems are getting another beauty to join their group. Bill de Blasio of NYC, considered the worst mayor in the U.S., will supposedly be making an announcement for president today. He is a JOKE, but if you like high taxes & crime, he’s your man. NYC HATES HIM!” But then it got stranger.

Not content with having attacked De Blasio in writing, ten hours later Trump tweeted a deranged video filmed aboard Air Force One. Trump insisted that De Blasio won’t win the nomination. He then added “It would be better off if you got back to New York City and did your job for the little time you have left.” It’s not even clear what that means, considering De Blasio has two and a half years left on his current term. Is this some kind of threat?

In any case, it’s notable that Donald Trump feels compelled to throw a fit about De Blasio entering the 2020 presidential race, when Trump hasn’t even acknowledged the majority of the Democratic candidates who have entered the race. De Blasio’s approval rating in New York City has cycled up and down, but he’s far more popular in the city than Trump ever will be – and perhaps that’s why Trump is melting down about him.
