Donald Trump has berserk meltdown after U.S. Court of Appeals destroys him

It was always a given that the U.S. Court of Appeals was going to rule against Donald Trump on his “presidential immunity” nonsense, and that the ruling was going to come down before long. But even though this was always the only possible outcome, it’s still a big deal. This ruling destroys whatever delusional hope Trump might have had about surviving all of this.

To that end, Trump is going berserk on his own social network: “Without Presidential Immunity, the Presidency will lose its power and prestige, and under some Leaders, have no power at all. The Presidency will be consumed by the other Branches of Government. THAT IS NOT WHAT OUR FOUNDERS WANTED!”

So couple of things stand out here. First, Trump is clearly upset and frazzled about losing this ruling. While we all knew that there was a roughly 100% chance it would play out this way, it’s never clear if an increasingly isolated and addled Trump is aware of such things.

Second, Trump’s meltdown today is little more than a recycling of the same old tired argument that he’s been making for months. That argument has proven to be ineffective in the court of public opinion, and now it’s also proven to be ineffective in actual court. Trump is clearly out of ideas, and he’s reduced to merely repeating the same rants over and over again in increasingly histrionic fashion. That’s yet another sign of dementia.
