Donald Trump has berserk meltdown after Letitia James increases the penalties against him
Donald Trump has already lost his New York civil fraud trial by summary judgment. The trial has been mainly to determine the size of the damages. NY Attorney General Letitia James initially said she was seeking at least $250 million in penalties, but today she upped that to $370 million. Given that the judge has already ruled in her favor, the judge is likely to give her something in the neighborhood of what she’s seeking – perhaps even more.
Trump, predictably, isn’t taking the news well. He posted a very lengthy all caps meltdown on social media, insisting that “I DID NOTHING WRONG” and “MY FINANCIAL STATEMENTS ARE GREAT.” He’s also complaining that he “WAS NOT ALLOWED A JURY” (he never requested one), and “THERE WAS NO VICTIM, NO DEFAULT, NO DAMAGES, NO “NOTHING,” ONLY A VERY HAPPY BANK.” Uh, no. That’s not how any of this works.
Trump then declared that “THEY SHOULD PAY ME.” Maybe this is Trump’s way of admitting that he’s now broke. Trump went on to refer to this as a DOJ WITCH HUNT” which is remarkable, given that this is a state level civil case that didn’t come from the DOJ.
In any case, Donald Trump’s enraged meltdown is a giveaway that he knows he can’t do anything to stop this from happening to him. His financial house of cards is being toppled. And it’ll only get worse for him when he gets to his criminal trials – which he can’t stop from happening either.
