Donald Trump has been betrayed by his own delusional fantasies

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

I’d like to talk about the one thing that I feel guarantees that Donald Trump will likely receive prison time. It’s his fantasy life. Many have rich inner lives, things that they want to do more than anything, things they want for this country.

Some people even wish for the impossible. A friend of mine — another child of the sea — has a vivid fantasy where there is a rich underworld of people living underneath the sea in blue-green sea cottages covered in rich coral, where everyone is peaceful and happy. And then there is President Biden. He often speaks of “the soul of the nation.” President Biden obviously fantasizes about an America that carries a healed soul, where people are entwined not in hate but in love, honor, and mutual respect.

Those are beautiful fantasies, and President Biden’s hope for a more gentle American soul dictates how he runs the country — and he runs it with love and generosity. Now let’s look at Donald Trump’s fantasy life. Oh yes, the insurrectionist has one as well. We know this because he often spits out his deepest fantasies on social media or in the middle of interviews.

1) He wants to be a king. In Trump’s fantasies, there is only him. People listen to him. He is a man among men, the biggest man of all.

2) Most people love him. It is Trump’s desire to be loved, not to love. He fantasizes about parties and screaming audiences rewarding him for — well — something as they gather around him in throngs to worship.

3) Besting his enemies. Trump dreams that he is always triumphant . He is the winner of all battles; he and he alone collects the spoils of war.

4) Everyone wants to be him. Trump’s fantasies also apply to his personality. In the depths of his lunatic fantasies, I’ve no doubt that Trump sees others begging to be more like him. Perhaps in his rich fantasy life, they offer up gifts wanting to drink from the special fountain that would allow them to delve into Trump-like qualities.

We know about Trump’s fantasies because he pretends they’re real. He scrawls them on truth social. He repeats them in interviews. Trump has in fact, lost the ability to tell fantasy from reality. It’s quite something. And that is how we know he will likely get prison time.

If another were facing the type of charges Trump is, they’d bargain. They’d take a deal. They’d surely want to save themselves and the ones they love the hell of a trial, a guilty verdict, and a tough prison sentence.

But Trump loves no one, and he doesn’t think he needs saving. His fantasies have become real to him. He’ll never take a plea because that would mean the end of the dream — the fantasy finale where he’d have to admit the world DOESN’T love him like he wishes it did. And that finally It would be too much for him.
