Donald Trump has become the one thing he can’t get away with being

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

We are currently in the calm before the storm. I refer to the storm of Donald Trump. An incredible thing is happening. Many in the media are finally getting it right. “Trump is finally boring!” That is the headline blaring from Politico.

Of course, as usual, Palmer Report was (more than) two steps ahead. We’ve been saying Trump lost his hold on the GOP for quite a while now. It looks like, finally, the media is agreeing.

Many in the GOP treat assolini like a pesky mosquito they brush off their arm. He is still issuing angry press releases. He is still talking about himself — nonstop. Only precious few are listening to the insurrectionist these days

Perhaps that is because the irrelevance of the orange monster has finally found its place in the persons of other Republicans — or maybe they are just considering him more of a liability now.

And this writer feels it could not happen at a better time.

The January 6 hearings start next week. We know Trump will not be able to be quiet while these go on. So it stands to reason he will further embarrass himself because he cannot open his mouth without shaming himself somehow.

And by opening up his mouth he will also embarrass the GOP as a whole. And then we go into the midterms. This will be an excellent time for Trump to achieve full irrelevancy. Of course, some GOP members are too smart to alienate him entirely. But not all of them.

And there is another factor at work. Trump wants and needs to make things about him. He needs that as much as a cold drink of water.

He will no more let Republicans get away with ignoring him than he would do something kind for someone else. So it stands to reason that more sabotage of the GOP can be expected from Trump. Right now, it is deceptively calm. But just wait till the full fury of a spurned assolini comes reigning down. It will be something to watch for sure.
