Donald Trump has apparently shoved Elon Musk out the door after devastating election loss
For as much as Donald Trump has done to drive his own popularity into the gutter, Elon Musk has arguably done even more to hurt Trump’s viability. Trump’s approval rating is low; Musk’s is even lower. And after Musk made himself the central figure in what was supposed to be an evenly matched Wisconsin Supreme Court election, the Democrats won by a shocking ten points. Something had to give – and now it appears it has.
Trump has reportedly informed his cabinet that Musk will be departing the Trump administration within a few weeks, according to Politico. This isn’t being portrayed as a firing, but it sure reads like one. Trump’s cabinet has reportedly been feuding with Musk behind the scenes from the very start, and now it appears the cabinet has been able to use last night’s election debacle to convince Trump to shove Musk out the White House back door.
We’ll see what happens next. After finding out that elections can’t automatically be bought and that improper firings can be reversed by the courts, Musk probably isn’t having much fun at this point anyway, so maybe he’ll just falsely declare victory and go peaceably. Then again, he is a self destructive psychopath, so anything is possible. But wow is this ever embarrassing for Trump and Musk both.
