Donald Trump going into “bunker mode” as his campaign falls apart

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

This morning I pointed out that while there’s probably very little chance Donald Trump will drop out or be forcibly replaced, it’s still notable that pollsters are now polling what the race would look like without him. He’s in that precarious of a position. Now Trump’s people are apparently putting him into hiding, for fear he’ll make things even worse for himself.

Trump only has one campaign event on his schedule this week, in Montana of all places. In other words Trump isn’t visiting any swing states at all this week, and is instead merely holding one rally in a red state where he’s sure to get a warm welcome.

This comes after Trump tried holding a rally in the same Georgia State University venue where Kamala Harris had appeared days earlier. Trump failed to fill the venue and complained bitterly about it during his rally speech.

The Kamala Harris campaign is referring to Trump’s (lack of a) campaign schedule this week as “bunker mode” after a “disastrous week.” It’s remarkable that Trump is mostly going into hiding at a time when he’s falling behind in the polls and desperately needs to be out there trying to turn things around. But given his ongoing cognitive collapse – which Palmer Report said would end up being the story of this election – he makes things worse for himself every time he opens his mouth. And so his people aren’t even bothering to put him out there. Meanwhile Kamala Harris is continuing to energetically barnstorm across the nation.
